About Our Letterpress Cards & Prints:
Our letterpress story began 2 years ago with a desire to offer a line of greeting cards with rich truth for the human soul. We noticed some words lived best on jewelry, some lived best on clothing, and some would be best suited for paper.
This led us to explore the antique art form of letterpress. We fell in love with this craft and knew that we had to find a way to add it to our hand-pressed collection.
This has, by far, been the most complicated art form we’ve tried to tackle, but our mission has pushed us on when we didn’t think we could see it through.
We found a 1913 letterpress machine in southern MN. It had been used for years to produce a small-town newspaper, as most letterpress machines had.
Eric spent a year learning how to use the machine. Unlike screen-printing, there aren’t many resources for letterpress. There aren’t many tutorials online and there aren’t many suppliers for all the pieces and parts needed. But in spite of all that, we have officially launched our first collection of 10 pressed greeting cards.
Here’s what makes letterpress so truly special.
- The rich history of the antique machine itself
- The luxury papers with beautiful textures
- Each card is hand-fed through the press, one at a time, and each color is a separate pass through the machine.
- Each piece is crafted with immense love by the artist, and with an incredible attention to detail.
We can’t wait for you to see and feel this art print!
